چکیده

Porto-pulmonary hypertension is a known complication of liver cirrhosis but its association with noncirrhotic portal hypertension patients is rare. We report a case of pulmonary hypertension in a patient with noncirrhotic portal hypertension and scleroderma sine scleroderma. The two latter conditions have been shown to be independently associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension. DLCO is expected to decrease in scleroderma patients due to pulmonary vascular disease, which will result in an increased FVC/DLCO ratio. The low FVC/DLCO ratio in our patient suggests that pulmonary arterial hypertension was more likely to have been due to non-cirrhotic portal hypertension than scleroderma sine scleroderma.

The Relationship between Serum Pro‐Brain Natriuretic Peptide (Pro‐BNP) Levels and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in Patients with Limited Scleroderma

Introduction: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a late progressive sclerodermarelated complication, which can lead to right heart failure and cor pulmonale. Given that cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic method of choice for PAH, and considering the high risks of this method, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between serum Pro‐Brain natriuretic peptide (Pro‐B...

Systemic Mastocytosis Complicated by Non-Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension and Variceal Bleeding

Systemic mastocytosis is a myeloproliferative disorder characterized by extracutaneous involvement of at least one organ. Although rare, infiltration of inflammatory mast cells within the portal vein may lead to obstruction of the sinusoids resulting in non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. We present a patient with known history of systemic mastocytosis with bone marrow involvement presenting wit...

Systemic Sclerosis Sine Scleroderma.

Systemic sclerosis sine scleroderma is a rare form of limited systemic sclerosis. A Unique Presentation of Anti-RNA Polymerase III Positive Systemic Sclerosis Sine Scleroderma

Systemic sclerosis is a rare autoimmune disorder with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations and a multitude of autoantibodies that are associated with it. In the past several years, advances in serologic testing have led to research indicating important prognostic and phenotypic associations with certain subsets of autoantibodies. In particular, anti-RNA polymerase III (anti-RNAP III) has ...

Pulmonary hypertension associated with non-cirrhotic portal hypertension in systemic lupus erythematosus.

A case of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, the first of our knowledge, is described. Severe pulmonary hypertension was associated with the portal hypertension and with markers of active auto-immunity. Pulmonary hypertension has not previously been associated with non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. The coexistence of vasculopathy of the portal and...
